If someone could enlighten me please
I will be visiting Venice for the first time in mid September. I hope to stay in the city for a few nights. I will be driving...... How does this work? If you can't drive into the city?... where would you park your vehicle?....and how would you get to the hotel or B&B.

You will have to take a ferry. The car will stay in the parking lot. There are water taxis that can take you pretty much anywhere there. Go off the beaten path to find truly great venetian food.Have a great time.

I would just add that you not forget Venice is only two miles end to end. I have two bad knees and I traipsed all over for 3 days without any problems this past February. Its a great city to walk in that it doesn't have all that traffic of Rome or Florence.

Hi Joeybell,
In getting off the beaten path in Venice, I suggest a stop in Murano to visit the glass factories. I recently co-authored an article about a Muranese bead maker named Luigi Cattelan. He describes the history and sacrifice that his ancestors endured to bring glass making to where it is today. I wish I had known about the history when I visited five years ago. I also wish I had bought more beads!
