Hello, My future husband and I are to be vacationing in Rome for our Honeymoon in October. I have been looking around on this website for fashion tips etc. I have looked to see what the wheather will be like as well. Chris wears a lot of sport jackets and suit(Canalli), but I am not quite sure about myself. I dont want to be a typical "tourist". I know that one of the nights there, we are going to see an Opera/Theater or Musical of some particular type. Help......please Amy:o

Hi Amy,

You would get much more information if you posted a thread in the category for discussions on Italian fashion. (http://my.lifeinitaly.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9)
You can get some good inputs on this thread (http://www.lifeinitaly.com/fashion/dress-as-an-italian.asp)

And also on this one (http://my.lifeinitaly.com/showthread.php?t=418).

Here is some more advice (http://my.lifeinitaly.com/showthread.php?t=68).

For the styles of coats you can buy for your trip in October, check this (http://my.lifeinitaly.com/showthread.php?t=68)out.

I have not been to Rome, but have worked for fashion companies based thereabouts, and have a few Italian girlfriends: the idea is to be elegant….if you can be comfortable at the same time, very good....as discussed in the threads, it is a little bit about the Italian attitude.

Some tips which I think the Italians on this forum can add to:

-No sneakers…always nice shoes and sandals.
-Jeans, yes, but not worn t-shirts, try elegant shirts and tops instead.T-shirts only if they are unusual and attractive.
-Try on more skirts, and dresses, leggings are great too. Scarves and good light coats are a must.

-Use expensive-looking, authentic jewelry. Too much is not good, but whatever you have should be classic, more or less.

Of course, if you are going to the theatre, you would need a smashing dress and a great shawl, elegant shoes and accessories. While choosing colors, black is always safe and beautiful, but go with color if you are sure.

Hope this helps....wait for the Roman ladies to come up with more advice, and let them correct me wherever they know they have a better idea;)

Congratulations on your marriage, and I hope you have a great honeymoon in Italy!:)
