View Full Version : finding people
Mahlea 10-16-2006, 05:57 AM Hi My father served with the New Zealand Army in Italy during the second world war. While there, he sent back to me a photo of a young boy. On the reverse side is written; MAY FREIND Bill Elio Comari. As my fathers name was Bill, maybe the young boys name is Elio Comari. Any help to locate this person who would now be aged about 78 years, would be appreciated.
Have since found a letter which mentions a small boy called George who was befriended by the New Zealanders. Maybe he is the same person, nicknamed by the Kiwi's
myafriprincess 10-17-2006, 03:45 PM I am currently seeking my grandfather whom I have never met. All that I know about him is that he was Italian and his name is Lvigi Coianiz. He should be in his late 60s at this time and would have been in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) around the late 50s. If anyone could help me find him please reply. My mother has never met her father and would love to make contact with him.
Many thanks
myafriprincess
paolo 10-18-2006, 01:15 AM Cannot help much - My only suggestion is to look for LUIGI ( with a U not a V ) - Depending also on how interested you are in finding your grandfather there are in any case investigation firms who are set up to do this -
I will try to reserach a little
Paolo
larisor 03-14-2007, 08:01 AM Don't know if anyone can help, I am new to all of this. But I am searching for relatives in Italy and possibly should be looking in Greece. I have my grandmothers Naturalization papers when she became a citizen in New York. Her last name is SanSeverino, first name Caterina. She was born in Salonicco, Greece as her father was the Italian Ambassador to Greece at the time. She came to America from Greece in 1921. Her father's name was Achilles SanSeverino. If anyone has any information I would be most grateful if they could email me any info!!
Thanks much!
Ciao! (and that's about the only Italian I know!):D

I am the son of Elio Comari, I sent an e-mail and a private message to Mahlea one week ago, but I had no replay. Can anybody help me to contact Mahlea?

DocDave 10-25-2007, 01:51 AM Hi,
I too am looking for someone. In 1960 I was in Italy with my Father as an Air Force brat (a young man at he time). We lived on the Itialian economy in Vittorio Veneto. I meet a girl. Her maiden name was Felicita Bomben. At the time she was 20 to 25. Because of any name change through marriage, I don't know where to start.

justindemetri 10-25-2007, 02:23 AM Hi DocDave
Considering Vittorio Veneto is a small city of under 30,000 you might want to search for family members still living there. Here is the link to the Commune web page -might not be much help but it is a start:
http://www.comune.vittorio-veneto.tv.it/
I noticed you live in Corvalis, had a few friends from there when I went to school in Eugene.
sardoman 10-26-2007, 01:13 PM I don't know anything about researching family history in Italy, but here is the link to the Anglo-Italian Family History Society's link page. Maybe this could help some of you. ;)

DocDave 10-27-2007, 04:47 AM Hi justindemetri,
Thanks for for your input. I have checked the Itailian White Pages and find no Bombens still in Vittorio Vento. I have used it to search the Vento provence and found several listings. Relatives?
I need a little info about the listings. I am adding a sample to this post.
Bomben XXXXXX
31040 Mansue' (TV) - Viale Papa Luciani, 22 .
What the listing is telling me? I think the town, then the street name followed by the address number.
Thanks again,
DoCDave
