If the deputy mayor of Treviso, Giancarlo Gentilini, is wholly ignorant of traditional Italian methods of dealing with ethnic cleansers, perhaps he ought to revisit the history books for their vivid description of the way Mussolini and his henchmen were punished by the Italian people.

Apart from the fact that 'ethnic' and 'gay' have no necessary relationship, and the fact that the man obviously has no real understanding of why those terms don't relate, this really is frightening.

Any kind of cleansing against 'gays' is frightening, just as any other kind of cleansing involving people of any kind would be.

What I would have understood would have been the mayor saying something like "we need to clean up our parks and get the sex back into the home" or something. That wouldn't have focused on cleansing people or types of people, but activities.

Whew. The man needs to learn some things.

{Which all brings up a point. I wonder about this sometimes. We live in a world where this kind of thinking goes on all the time. Is it more common than we know, and we just dont know it because we don't surround ourselves with those who think that way or say those things... and therefore when we DO hear it we are shocked... but really shouldn't be?? Or, is this guy an anomaly?}
